Against the Cult of Positivity

Mandatory optimism is a form of emotional suppression that prevents genuine resilience.

We live in an era of toxic positivity. 'Good vibes only.' But negative emotions are critical biological signals. They tell us when a boundary has been crossed, when a situation is unjust, or when we need to change course.

By demanding that we instantly reframe every tragedy as an 'opportunity for growth,' we invalidate our own suffering. True resilience isn't about smiling through the pain; it's about acknowledging the depth of the darkness and deciding to keep walking anyway.
